Brisbane City Council requested Wagners CFT to design, certify, supply and oversee construction of a durable composite boardwalk that possessed the stability to withstand the large loads of compact crowding. In addition to this requirement, the structure also had to be aesthetically pleasing and capable of supporting emergency vehicles whilst maintaining a low maintenance cost.
The 450 square metre project consisted of bonded composite girders to maximize spans in order to minimize the need for additionally piling. Over this robust substructure a prefabricated composite bearer and joist continuous span system was installed and composite non-slip decking with a 5 kPa rating applied. At this point the ornate and attractive stainless steel handrail was installed to match the existing railing previously put in by the council.
