Geoff Gibson Homes chooses Earth Friendly Concrete® by Wagners

Over 103,500kg of CO₂ was saved when building fifteen homes by using Earth Friendly Concrete ® by Wagners  for the foundations and polished slabs. This is equivalent to the total energy used by thirteen homes over an entire year.

Geoff Gibson Homes build better homes, and homes with significantly reduced embodied carbon. By lowering the embodied energy of the construction materials they use, they have minimised their effect on the environment.

Earth Friendly Concrete ® was chosen by Geoff Gibson Homes as it is a low carbon alternative that can be poured on site just like traditional concrete, but it provides additional benefits, promoting sustainability and saving 250kg of CO₂ for every cubic metre poured.

Geoff Gibson has built over 860 homes over the last thirty years and has spent the last twelve years perfecting the operational energy consumption of his builds to minimise their effect on the environment. He has investigated and trialled changing the direction each room faces in the house, tracking the cycle of the sun across the sky in each month of the year, the position of windows, thermal mass of slabs, heat reflective glass, insultation and numerous other construction methods.

Every home they build has a minimum 7 star energy efficient rating, with their most energy efficient house receiving a 9.2 star rating. However over the years they became concerned with the embodied carbon in construction materials.

I’ve trialled other products and applied an extensive range sustainability measures, striving to achieve an outstanding environmental performance. However, when it comes to reducing the embodied carbon in constructions materials nothing compares to Earth Friendly Concrete by Wagners it is superior and cement free.”
